Most people seem to think that this is 'new information', it is NOT.  And, are you aware of how hard it is for the writer of the book to change his language and how hard it is for most to stop using certain terms and labels regarding their ancestors and themsleves. In the end this is an important step when the idea is to put one foot in front of the other.....(B).

Even before the United States became itself, people have been fighting for their liberty. From 1676 Bacons Rebellion to Shays rebellion. Some how these people are never called slaves. Why?  The 1811 uprising in New Orleans is just one of a long list of  battles fought by people determined to be free. All through the annuals of American history you can find evidence of such, Plessy v Fergusson, African Methodist Episcopal Church v Methodist Episcopal Church or the case of Elizabeth Jennings Graham who sue the state of New York  after being denied a seat on public transit. The fight for freedom and liberty is older than this country's beginnings but I do not think slaves ever participated.

 IT WAS VERY INTERESTING, THE HISTORY THAT IS OF THE REVOLT BY FREE THINKERS, TO TRY TO ESTABLISH A FREE SOCITY THAT IS GOVERNED BY SELF AND THAT IS FOR THE PEOPLE! SEE UR INSIGHT AND WISEDOM HAS BROUGHT ME TO A POINT WHERE I AM BEGINING TO SEE CLEARER AND THINGS ASS THEY ARE MEANT TO BE SEEN, I SAY THAT BECUZ  NORMALLY I WOULD HAVE SAID NOW LOOK AT THAT A WHITE BOY , TELLIN ME SUM AND SHOWIN ME SUM ABOUT MY HISTORY, NOT TO MENTION HE FRM HARVARD, AND THEN I WOULD HAVE SAID WHY IS IT NOT MORE OF OUR OWN PEOPLE TELLIN US THIS, SO NOW AM AT THE POINT WHERE AS I JUS USE THE INFORMATION FOR WHAT IT IS AND TRUE IT, BUT INTERESTING BECUZ I NEVER LEARNED OF THIS IN MY HISTORY BOOKS AT SCHOOL, BUT BESIDES THAT I SEE EVEN BACK IN 1811 WE HAVE THOSE OF OUR PEOPLE WHO JUS LOVE THIER MASTER AND OPPRESSOR, WHO INFORMED THEM OF THE REVOLT, AND THATS DEEP BECUZ I THINK OF WHAT SISTA TUBMAN SAID WHEN SHE SAID I FREED OVER A THOUSAND  SLAVES AND I WOULD HAVE FREED A THOUSAND MORE IF THEY KNEW THEY WERE SLAVES, BUT THE REVOLT WENT ON!  JUST THINK OF HOW MORE EFFECTIVE IT COULD HAVE BEEN IF THEY WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THEM AT THIER PLANTATIONS LIKE THAT, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ON SUM REAL KHALID MUHAMMAD TYPE ISSH KILL THE BABY'S THE WOMEN, THE MEN JUST KILLEM ALL LOL, AND IN THAT APPROCH WOULD HAVE  SUCCEEDED, BUT YOU KNOW ITS ALWAYS GON BE HATORS AND TRIATORS, SO WITH THAT BEING SAID LOOK AT THE MESSAGE  THAT IT SENT TO THE OTHER SLAVES HEADS ALL UP AND DOWN THE STREET ON POLES, LOOK AT THE GAME THE OPPRESSOR'S PLAY WITH THE MIND, AND THAT ELEMENT OF FEAR, THE SAME GAME THEY ARE PLAYN TODAY AND OTHER SLAVES SEEING THIS IT PUT THEM BACK IN PLACE  OF BEING SLAVES, BUT FOR THE FREE  THINKER IT LET HIM/SHE KNOW SOMETHING AS WELL, SO WHY THEY  FEAR A CONTROLLED FREE THINKER STATE? WHEATHER THEY ARE BLACK, WHITE ,BROWN, OR RED, IF THEY CHOOSE TO GO BY THAT, SO DOES IT GO BACK TO POWER? WHAT IT IS, AND WHO HAS IT? THESE MEN HAD IT, AND NOT ONLY DID THEY HAVE IT THEY WAS USING IT, BUT THEN AT THE SAME TIME IT SHOWS ME THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE POWER AS WELL  AND WILL USE IT WHEN THEY SEE THIER POWER STRUCTURE  BEING THREATIN, SO WITH THAT BEING SAID HOW CAN WE WIN, I MEAN ALMOST DON'T GET IT! WHEN WE ARE FIGHTIN IN THIS CASE THE OPPRESSOR, AND OUR OWN PEOPLE, SO ITS 2 AGAINST 1 GOING IN, YES HISTORY HAS TOLD US OF MANY OF THESE REVOLTS BY FREE THINKERS, BUT WHERE IS THE HISTORY THAT SHOWS THE FREE THINKERS WON AND THAT THEY HAVE A SOCIETY AND STATE OF THIER OWN AND THAT IS FOR THE PEOPLE? I SEE TODAY AS BACK THEN HOW THEY ENSLAVE THE PEOPLE WITH LANGUAGE,TRYN TO KEEP THAT POWER AND FEAR STILL GOING TO KEEP THEM IN CONTROL! I was finally able to hear most of the broadcast on my grand daughter's lap top. First off he was not the only one that knew of the revolt. He admitted that many of the people around that area knew of and actually told the story in the oral tradition. 

He also appeared to be surprised that they were sophisticated enough to plan and pull it off. While I applaud his research I can see why he, viewing those persons through the eyes of their oppressors, who think like that. 

 

In other words it is kind of hard to accept that a "slave" just murdered your ass when in fact you never acknowledged that persons have a tendency to plot and fight. If you can grok where I'm coming from?

Interesting read, reminded me of Amistad.  One other question that came to mind while reading was in regards to Britian banning slavery since 1838, why would the United States be subjected to British mandates if in 1776, the European Colonists fought for independence?

@Adisa-What you think that you are seeing is not what is there. The LAW that you are making reference about had to do with the transportation of Kidnapped People across the Atlantic Seaway and, because, Great Britain had the largest NAVY, at that time it (GB/UK/ENGLAND) controlled the waters of the Planet, so it (GB), made the LAWS, and the sea-way was under the control of the British Navy.
