From exploring the different sub-links on Dr. Black's link above, and looking into other names and events listed in them, I found the name Bessie Coleman.  What a sad loss to her short life, such an amazing leader in spirit.

Really enjoyed learning this part also.  Chicago? Started by a "black" man. And a replica of his cabin was a shocking portion and highly-viewed piece of the 1933 World's Fair. Woh.

The opportunity to learn this history is absolutely phenomenal...!

Black Metropolis-Bronzeville District, or simply Bronzeville, is a historic district in the Douglas community area of South Side, Chicago, in Cook CountyIllinois.

The historic district includes nine structures that were accorded the Chicago Landmark designation on September 9, 1998.[1] These buildings are:

Anthony Overton, born in Monroe, Louisiana on March 21, 1865, was the first entrepreneur to win the NAACP’s Spingarn Award (in 1927).  Overton, presided over a Chicago-based financial empire that included:  Overton Hygienic Manufacturing Company (a personal care products company), Victory Life Insurance Company, Douglass National Bank, Great Northern Real Estate Company, The Half-Century Magazine, the Chicago Bee(a newspaper).
