Amanda Walker and I are having a back-and-forth on his life and influence.  I think we both agree that he was a very complicated person, and that it is difficult to place him in our current thoughts - to apply our values is to be anachronistic.

He starts passionately determined to make a separate lexicon as a young nationalist revolutionary, and finishes as an elitist telling his daughter abolitionists are criminals if they object too strongly to slavery because they can do nothing about southern law.

I spy one (of many) little thread(s) across time where there is violence; a love of money/property/dominion is always there.

Namaska Mr. White, We are looking at a very complex and complicated puzzle when trying to examine this MIND (Man). It is not going to be easy to follow his evolution at a time when the social construct was being invented in the way that it would come together to form a new way of life and existence. The New World was more than a 1000 piece puzzle and the abandonment of the old way of being, must have been devastating, to most people at the time.
