This is a very beneficial thread and so I am wondering why has it stopped being used---maybe it is because most of us do not have children that have a need to know.

Another Febuary and we are not bothering to find this page among others-I wonder why (maybe it is me)!!!!

John A. Williams, wrote a book titled "The Man Who Cried I Am, which was a fictionalized account of the life and death of Richard Nathaniel Wright.  This book introduced the King Alfred Plan - a CIA-led scheme supporting an international effort to eliminate people of African descent. This "plan" has since been cited as fact by some members of the Black Community and conspiracy theorists.

This is an example of how fantasy is believed into becoming fact.

Read this article that was written by Harry Haywood in 1934.  http://archive.lib.msu.edu/DMC/AmRad/southcomesnorth.pdf

After reading, comment about how  then is like NOW!

B.

Change the language and a few names in this article and it would read as if were written more recently than in 1934.

that observation is a 5point ringer.

Coming to the end of Negro history month and have not heard the young people mention any of the individuals that are found in this thread.  Wonder what is going on?

Percy Julian...

Graduated top of the 1916 class of State Normal School for Negroes

Valedictorian of the Class of 1920 at DePauw University

Taught chemistry at Fisk University & West Virginia State College for Negroes

Master's in Organic Chemistry at Harvard University (made possible by an Austin Fellowship), later to be named professor and head of the chemistry department.

Doctorate Degree at the University of Vienna in Austria (made possible by a fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation).  It was during this time Julian found his niche in the area of synthesizing naturally occurring drugs while studying in Vienna under the tutelage of Ernst Spath, who was known for synthesizing nicotine and ephedrine.

Discovered a method to replicate physostigmine, a drug used to prevent blindness caused by glaucoma.

Chief chemist for the Glidden (paint) Company, where, in his study of soybeans, he pioneered the synthesis of a substance used to mass produce cortisone at far lower cost.  His discoveries in the use of soy protein also yielded large profits for Glidden in their paint and paper lines, and subsequently played a great part in saving lives on ships and planes in WWII.

Founded Julian Laboratories (offices in Chicago and Mexico City) in 1953, which were the world's largest producers of synthetic cortisone.  The company was sold to Smith Kline & French in 1964.

Julian's groundbreaking work in the synthesis of drugs from the wild yam has profoundly affected my life.  In 2012, I began natural hormone replacement therapy.  In my consultation, I learned that what they now call "bio-identity" hormones are extracts of the wild yam, and that the reason they work is because the "stuff" in the hormones our bodies produce are identical to the "stuff" in the wild yam.  I was also informed that the concept and technology has been around since the 1930s.

On this, the last day of negro history month, I am proud to have Percy Julian to thank for the improved quality of my life.

Today I found this link for Father Devine!
