William & his son Temple could've been mulatto men or even just "white", but due to Ben's various ties and such a mysterious, high, social standing it's very questionable; due to the fact that the aristocrat society could've made an exception for them because the use of the bastardy laws of colonial America were in full effect at that time which they could've covered up and made no record of the truth of their situation. Some sources claim Ms. Read was William's mother & Ben covered it up for the sake of her honor, (making an assumption) what if William's mother is actually Sally or some other brown skinned woman but William was the only one who was "light/white" enough & ect ect ect?
