Everyone may want to pay close attention to the power of language in the establishment and maintenance of the social order, both in small interpersonal as well as wider socio-political spheres:

The struggle for definition is veritably the struggle for life itself. In the typical Western two men fight desperately for the possession of a gun that has been thrown to the ground: whoever reaches the weapon first shoots and lives; his adversary is shot and dies. In ordinary life, the struggle is not for guns but for words; whoever first defines the situation is the victor; his adversary, the victim. For example, in the family, husband and wife, mother and child do not get along; who defines whom as troublesome or mentally sick?...[the one] who first seizes the word imposes reality on the other; [the one] who defines thus dominates and lives; and [the one] who is defined is subjugated and may be killed.[

Are you then suggesting that the one or ones who have the to power to define have the power of God? That being God or the Gods have the power to create reality and thus who lives and who dies. What then is the fate of the person or persons who have no mass of understanding of the loom of language?

Your statement illustrates that language and understanding how it works in its many vestiges gives advantage to those that win the race to define has over those that remain intellectually passive. Can having he power to define, or to outline give the definer(s) the ability to limit what what is thought? Taking into consideration that the true sense of the word define is to limit.

If one has the power to limit what another thinks how is it then possible for that other to compete?

Indeed and in FACT the other cannot compete and as a added factor to the equation the other has no cognition that a competition is in play.

This just came to mind. What if there are thoughts that I dare not think and that dare was imprinted via the vehicle of language? Is it possible that a group of people not even know that the possibility of that form of mental technology exists? How can I know what I do not know how to know?

I think the issue of language and/or knowing without really knowing finally set in for me a couple of weeks ago, while sitting in traffic during an evening commute.  All the ideas and thoughts I believed were my own were implanted over a period of time and were more than likely intended to destroy me.  

Reading this thread caused me to recall the proverb, "The pen is mightier than the sword."  I never truly comprehended the meaning of that adage.  Now having a better understanding of the power of words and language, I think of another saying I used to hear as a child; "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Is this true?  Can words never hurt? 

How does it affect the female population to accept their god, lord and savior to be a man?  Does believing this have a lasting effect?  No one can deny role of the female, yet Christianity's holy trinity still does not include the female.  Even the Christ, said to be the son of god had to be birthed through the female.  Is that not enough evidence of the power and importance of the female, that a god had to enter through the female to exist?  What other things, ideas, concepts and beliefs have we accepted as truth and deny the true power of ourselves by accepting the idea created by someone else all through the power of language and the use of words?

I too find it interesting that females are left play only "minor" role in the birth and nurturing of a God. Especially in the Judea/ Christian traditions. I wonder what the real motives, the underlying shadows of the authors were or was this more the works of those who edited the stories?

Historically what were the contextual roles of women in that sub culture?
