I have been hearing about Multi-culturalism for several years now and in fact have attended several workshops supposedly designed to address this issue, if indeed it is an issue. However, only one workshop I attended ever addressed what culture was. The rest tried to create or define the word for me or stretch the meaning to cover what they wanted it to be. That is not the way to true truth.
A real discussion about CULTURE is a very important issue. What is known as multi-culture is somewhat vague and more than a little ambiguous. The discussion about our understanding of culture IS the real ISSUE.

I agree.
Culture
Latin Cultura

Culture is about act of preparation which include training & education & experiences. Preparation for....
Manhood?, Employment? Position in family or society or class? Politics?

So, if I can extrapolate, "Multi" culture can be many differing acts of training & education & experiences to prepare one for....? Manhood?, Employment? Position in family or society or class? Politics?

Hmmm. I can't say that any so-called MCism workshops work from this perspective. Obviously, workshops would only be a start in the "act(s) of trainings".

So, what are the "so-called" MCism courses truly dealing with is????

Poor attempts of conflict resolution?????
Barry good start. Follow cultura all the way back to its source. You may have to employ some epistemological techniques to get there as well as etymology.
Culture is a People's total way of life - how they do things to perserve who they are.

Multiculturalism is just some b.s., I think, that certain white folk (and their minions) have invented to acknowledge the fact that they have trampled upon other People's cultures without understanding. Now that they (and their minions) recognize the fact that they (white folk) are outnumbered and vulnerable to genetic annihilation, they (and their minions) are willing to see into the the workings of other People's life-ways. (Culture is simply a People's life-ways.)

Multiculturalism is something that Natural People do not need to study or practice or go to workshops for because Natural People are already humanistic enough to respect other People. Multiculturalism is an attempt for white folk (and their minions) to accept and understand the humanity of other People. The Multicultural Movement is for people who have ignored/ trampled upon / denigrated/ dissed / looked down upon the life-ways / cultures of other Peoples - and have now accepted that they might be (are surely) wrong in their assumptions that non-white people have no valuable values. Multiculturalism is a look into the cultural values of People different than the white "norm". It is a good first step for unnatural people, but it is not enough! They can keep trying..... keep struggling to become more human and humane.

In the meantime, Africans and People of African descent have our own exigencies.
Asha, are these just your opinions or have you trued up them to be factual? You have made some broad statements to include a whole lot of people who don't even exist.
Al, these are my observations and opinions.

No-one has yet addressed the question---try to involve YOURSELF into the discussion without predisposition!!!!
