As a homeschooling parent, I once had a lady tell me that she could never homeschool her children because she didn't know anything about history. My response was "Well, it doesn't seem like you could do any worse educating them than the public schools did with you."

a dictionary is the core of any teaching or learning program and needs to be used and abused until the pages begin to fall out and a new one is needed. It is the basic building block of any language course and the first thing that a student should be taught is how to use one.
