DIALOGUE AND DISCUSSION ON EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT AND RACE

As I researched the hexagram and the classical elements, I came across a chart that broke the hexagram down into its symbolic components. At the bottom of the chart was an image labeled “symbole de neutre.” I wasn’t entirely sure what I was looking at at first, but its angular diamond-like structure immediately reminded me of a symbol I was already familiar with.

That’s when I made the connection between the Masonic Compass and Square and the symbole de neutre.
I’m not suggesting they are the same or that one directly came from the other — the resemblance may simply be a matter of shared geometry. Still, the similarity was striking enough that I continued digging.

As I explored further, I found several parallels worth noting:

Both symbols express the union of duality.
In the elemental chart, “neutral” represents the balance of opposing forces. In Freemasonry, the compass and square symbolize the meeting of heaven and earth, spirit and matter.

Freemasonry itself contains dual lodges.
The tradition speaks of a Blue Lodge and a Red Lodge, another example of paired opposites operating within a unified system.

Both symbols relate to construction and design.
The Masonic emblem represents the tools of a Grand Architect. The hexagram, in its classical and mystical interpretations, represents the structure of creation—order emerging through the balancing of elemental forces.

So while the resemblance may be purely geometric, the underlying themes align: balance, duality, construction, order, and the meeting point where opposites create harmony.

This is what caught my attention and led me to explore the connection a little deeper.
