Bakau or Baku

I have spoken with people from various countries, but I sometimes I have heard words and that sound the same.  Such was the case when I heard Bakau and Baku, but they are two different cities in two different countries on two different continents.  Bakau is in Gambia, not to be confused with Banjul, which is close by.  Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan.

Now the really interesting thing is there is a a city in Ghana called Baku:
