Addiction and habit: Porn, Facebook, race, hate, etc.

When people talk about addiction (in the US at least since that is where I am from) it is usually about drugs, but can someone be addicted to another type of activity or thought?  I came across this article, http://changefromwithin.org/2014/02/12/one-mans-journey-how-i-stopp...,  that someone shared on facebook and it was really interesting about addiction to pornography.  I also saw a picture someone shared about Facebook addiction.  I have a question though: can someone be addicted to negative emotions such as jealousy, greed or hatred? Or the idea of race as a reality?  What else could people be addicted to?

In the end does it all come down to the habits of ones thoughts and the will power exerted for an individual to make a choice?

P.S. whatever one chooses, the language used should definitely be looked at such as what is used in porn.  The lack of discussion about whatever the topic leads to ignorance.
