I can say that "Great Gatsby" themed parties have been extremely popular among the wealthier people who come in to my business in need of an event specific outfit.
I also know from other studies that a tragic epidemic happened among the poorest people - while the best off could party with impunity and enjoy the "roaring 20s," the poor were making alcohol from wood, and this type of alcohol quickly led to blindness and death.
