The Questions:
Since all religions are influenced by its predecessor, why is it imperative for the "new" reigion make the gods of the old religion the "devil" of the "new" religion? Why are we not taught about the commonalities of these religions, as opposed to the differences?

My Response
In order for the new "religion" to flourish it has to demonize the old to make itself the legitimate order. Accordingly, if I had been taught about much of the content in the post I would have been able to formulate questions about the authenticity and claims of the religion that was projected onto my brain as a child. I could have possibly seen that the commonalty in all the stories were partly mythological in nature. I am not denigrating myth, but it would have allowed me not to take literal what have proved to be only fairy tales retold to fit the context of the times and society.

In other words, as so often happens, what started off as an inquiry into the mystery of life and an attempt to address vital questions men had about life and themselves, shortly became an attempt at controlling the thoughts of men via fear, guilt, shame, retribution and perpetual punishment. That's sounds an awful lot like a mental illness to me.

The post is full of information about various vorldveiws and as stated a common thread in them all. Too bad Christianity declared itself sovereign (superanus) to all other weltanshauungs.
