I asked the question (On Independence Day) why do we observe the 4th July. It amazed, but not shock me that most did not know the reason behind this day. There were answers from, that's the day black people (slaves) got their freedom,to that's the day this country started to be the United States. The point is that most were guessing and had no clue as to why this day is celebrated. What dawned on me was that these people had no power. Most believed what they had heard. The reason I say this is because when I mentioned the British Empire or King George I was told that did not matter. I agree, being associated with powerlessness most do not want power they want allusion.

I think that this is very important information that needs to be discussed. Be very careful of TW. He is not responsibe for some of his actions!!(B)

I see. I remembered hearing his name. I listened to the presentation and went back and read the thread on this site. I think that if he is willing to lend himself for re-education on the use of certain words he could offer up an authentic discussion. His acknowledgement of his own white privilege does not give him a free pass however. Acknowledgement is one thing, it doesn't erase years of personal, social, implied indoctrination. Therefore he must walk a fine line, and if his intentions are indeed grounded in integrity, he would be best served to always take seriously the opportunity for real discourse with people of color. less he run the risk of being the ultimate "great white hope"

Thanks I look forward to your address on quantum law. I don't think there is enough dialogue about some of the structural and fundamental issues that have shaped society.
