So much work to do with this topic.  I always believed the first U.S. flag was created by Betsy Ross.  I also never knew the meanings of the folds despite learning to fold the flag in the military.

@Adisa, why is it ok to practice respect for the "colors" relative to the flag but not the "colors" relative to your hood.

Dr. B, It may be ok to practice respect to colors of a country and not ok to represent the colors of a hood because one has control of the media, education, and can influence the perception of many.  I asked a question of someone regarding the oath to protect and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.  The question was and still is, "Who determines the enemy?"
