As I read, I came upon an event which occurred in Boston in September of 1828, not only had word of the Haitian Independence reached Boston but a certain Prince by the name of Abdul Rahhaman had come to visit Boston as well.
Abdu-l-Rahman Ibrahim Ibn Sori (a.k.a. Abdul-Rahman) was a prince from West Africa who was kidnapped from his homeland and held captive in the United States. After spending 40 years in captivity, he was release in the year 1828 by order of President John Quincy Adams and Secretary of State Henry Clay after the Sultan of Morocco requested his release. I don't expect a movie titled 40 Years A Slave to be produced anytime soon, so I will continue to look for as much information about him as I can.
