THE RED PILL

DIALOGUE AND DISCUSSION ON EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT AND RACE

Dear Educators, The Memphis Aviation Professionals are sponsoring our annual art and poetry/prose/essay contest for the Memphis City, Shelby County and Mid-South Metro area schools for students in grades K-12. The Memphis Aviation Professionals is comprised of the following organizations: The National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE), the Tuskegee Airmen International (TAI), the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP), Bessie Coleman Aerospace Legacy (BCAL) and the Memphis Blackhawks.

The goal of the contest is to heighten awareness as we introduce our youth to the lucrative opportunities within the aviation career field. Our theme for this year’s program is, Still Climbing. Participants in grades K-3 will be asked to color the attached picture of an airplane. All other participants will be grouped into three Divisions and must write a poem or short story on an aviation related topic. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded to students who submit the winning entry from Divisions Two through Four.

Students who receive first, second, and third place in Division Two through Division Four will be our honored guests at our Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Memphis Marriott Hotel, 2625 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Memphis, TN. The first place winner from these divisions will read his/her winning entry at the luncheon. All awards, with the exception of those from Division One, will be presented during the luncheon. Thank you in advance for your participation.

The support you provide will enable us to make this endeavor a tremendous success.
