12th Annual Cooper-Jones Initiative

The 12^th Annual Cooper-Jones Initiative in partnership with Memphis Area Association of Government (MAAG) hosted by MAAG and Super Learning Class will be held Saturday April 6, 2013 at the Teaching and Learning Academy, 2485 Union Avenue Memphis, Tennessee from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  Dr. James P. Adams, Dean of the University of Kentucky’s School of Social Work will be the guest speaker for this important community event.

 

The Cooper/Jones Initiative will focus on developing the first Commission on Education Prevention and Behavior Modification for the City of Memphis and Shelby County.  Our mission is to create a diverse body that can make informed recommendations and decisions in the form of “planning” as opposed to “reacting” to how, what, and where our children learn.  The Commission will address such issues as health, education, drug abuse, crime, housing, violence, elder care, child welfare etc, in an attempt to assist the City of Memphis and Shelby County with economically deprived and disadvantaged communities throughout the districts.
