One of my teachers always says" Language is the tool used to deliver thoughts." In this scene Oldman's character is explaining how he can use language(in the BOOK) to control thoughts. He also says it has happened before and it can happen again. Most people miss this because they are arguing if Eli is blind and walking by faith. I think these are the closed minded individuals who's thoughts are and will always be controlled because they don't understand the language that is being transmitted not only in this movie but everyday life.
