I have a few questions regarding this post.

For those upset by what is being reported in the article, is it of importance that so called black people and their history to be linked to slavery?  Put another way, the article mentions the abuse and suffering of these people, if it is important to stress the mistreatement and kidnapping of people, isn't that enough on its own?  Is it necessary to also link or stress the importance to be identified as slaves?

What is of more importance, how these people are labeled by someone else or who they determined themselves to be?

Should the label matter if the real issue is to know how these people were treated?

Would it matter if instead of unpaid intern, these people were labeled as indetured servants?

Should it matter what the decided curriculum is to be?  Should we leave the education only in the hands of others?
