SUMMARY:12th Annual Cooper-Jones Initiative
DESCRIPTION:\n\nPosted by Rep. Barbara Cooper \n\n\n\nThe 12th Annu
al Cooper-Jones Initiative in partnership with Memphis Area Associatio
n of Government (MAAG) hosted by MAAG and Super Learning Class will be
held Saturday April 6, 2013 at the Teaching and Learning Academy, 248
5 Union Avenue Memphis, Tennessee from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  Dr. J
ames P. Adams, Dean of the University of Kentucky’s School of Social
Work will be the guest speaker for this important community event.\n\
n\n \nThe Cooper/Jones Initiative will focus on developing the first
Commission on Education Prevention and Behavior Modification for the C
ity of Memphis and Shelby County.  Our mission is to create a diverse
body that can make informed recommendations and decisions in the form
of “planning” as opposed to “reacting” to how, what, and wher
e our children learn.  The Commission will address such issues as hea
lth, education, drug abuse, crime, housing, violence, elder care, chil
d welfare etc, in an attempt to assist the City of Memphis and Shelby
County with economically deprived and disadvantaged communities throug
hout the districts.\n \nWe are extending a cordial invitation to you
to join us on Saturday, April 6, 2013 to participate through dialogue
as we discuss how to promote more positive social behaviors and lifest
yles.  I want to thank you in advance for your input about the needs
that are weighing heavily on the hearts and minds of many who genuinel
y want young people to develop skills that would lead to safe and pros
perous lifestyles that contribute to wholesome citizenry.\n \nPlease
contact me at your earliest convenience by phone at 615-741-4295 or by
email atrep.barbara.cooper@capitol.tn.gov  to RSVP your participatio
n and for further information.\n \nYour acceptance of this invitation
will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you immensely for your support.\
