Thank you for your queston, Mr. Smitty. All fifty states have their own laws and policies regarding real estate licensing. They have established their own Real Estate Commissions in the case of Tennessee or some other entity by another name to regulate and enforce the laws of their state. Some states have what is know as reciprocity; some do not. For those who do, this means a state will accept the license issued to an individual by another state as long as the licensee registers with the accepting state. This means that you are authorized to do real estate business in both states. Tennesse and Mississippi are two states that have reciprocity and are good examples of reciprocity; an agent licensed in one state may do business in both states once you become registered in both states without taking the real estate examination of the accepting state.

Mr. Smitty, I hope to start a real estate class soon. I hope to answer the questions many of us have regarding real estate licensing. You don't have to become licensed to have a need for real estate knowledge. Joe
