DIALOGUE AND DISCUSSION ON EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT AND RACE

PEOPLE WE MAY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT: Just returned from a rather long trip and had a thought about how people are always saying that they want to know about things that have happened in the past and also about what is going on at present.  On this site there is a list of names of people that could possibly help us to develop certain needed insights regarding our lives.  And so I have added another name to the list of persons that some of us might want to know something about.  For those who are interested please look under education on the forum tab for the above post. Find the new name and then give your reserch analysis about this scientist and the other great minds that you will there find the names listed.  Doing this work will help.

Why is this person so seldom talked about?

This is information that can help to unravel serious problems with the present understanding of American History.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._B._S._Pinchback

This insert makes a statement that tells us about the statement that implores us to understand that "patience is a virtue".

Learning new information about individuals such as Mr. Pinchback does confuse me.  Here are a few things that have me perplexed; 1) Why is information regarding those similar to Mr. Pinchback, not promoted or highly publicized?  2)  I was provided a different viewpoint about this time frame and often thought that anyone even considered having what was referred to as one drop of black blood were not even afforded positions and/or opportunities such as what Mr. Pinchback accomplished.  3)  The images and thoughts projected to me about the very people who are called slaves not only caused a feeling or thought of shame, but I had thoughts that many of those people were complacent.  As I type this, I recall watching the TV series, Roots as a young person.  Very few attempted to escape; no one rebelled even when the numbers appeared suitable to do so.  I heard so much about mulattos, quadroons, octoroons and the likes, but I don’t recall seeing even one person in that series that resembled a Mr. Pinchback!  4)  What still seems strange is how even under such harsh conditions and situations, there were not only a few but many who were able to thrive and obtain similar positions rather quickly….yet today it is perceived there are obstacles in place that would prevent repeating what a Mr. Pinchback accomplished.

To the untrained eye, there are still many traps within this kind of information that could possibly still cause some confusion about how one may view a Mr. Pinchback.  Some of the information is even presented in a way to even appear as what some may call scientific.  I even thought so called blacks were not able to vote until the 1960s!

Why is there so little discussion about this person?....>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Brooke

I am happy to hear that some of the class is now involved with this WRITER>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zora_Neale_Hurston

Please be aware that I have posted information about CLR James, George Padmor and Blyden on the People we need to know about (Cont') thread.

After reading about Edward Brooke, I can think of at least two reasons why so little is discussed about this person.
